Laurie Barkman
Laurie Barkman joined Stony Hill Advisors in 2021, bringing more than 25 years of C-level strategy and go-to-market expertise to the firm. As an Exit Value Planner and M&A Advisor, she represents lower middle market clients from emerging entrepreneurial companies to family-owned and mature multi-location businesses.
Laurie earned an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University. She is a Certified Value Builder™ Advisor and has a Certificate in Exit Planning from The Exit Planning Institute.
She is a former middle-market CEO with an exit from FedEx in 2015. She was also Managing Partner of a private equity firm where she led deal sourcing, strategy, and due diligence. During her career, she accelerated value in various industries including Services, Technology, Retail, eCommerce, Education, Manufacturing, and Logistics. Companies include GENCO Corporation, American Eagle Outfitters, Topanga Partners, The Art Institutes, and Ingersoll-Rand.
Laurie enjoys advising business owners on maximizing value, reducing risk, and creating transition options. With her strategic planning and executive coaching firm, SmallDotBig, she hosts the Succession Stories Podcast, providing weekly insights to grow your business, reduce risk, and develop exit strategies. To support education and economic development opportunities for women, urban youth, and entrepreneurs, she serves on Boards for PowerLink, Center for Ageless Entrepreneurship, and The Pittsburgh Promise, and is an Advisory Board Member for Safety io, a subsidiary of MSA Safety.
